Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Course Outline

The non-credit LSS Green Belt certificate is challenging in all the right ways: It’s an engaging 10-week program designed for those who want to lead change.

The certificate is divided into ten learning modules. Every module is interactive and multimodal. You learn the concept, reinforce it with multimedia examples and understand how to apply it within your own business context.

All core coursework is presented asynchronously and on-demand. You can also choose to attend optional live sessions, which feature coaching and networking opportunities. Participants should plan to spend three to five hours per week on the course.

Module 2: Factcheck! What Are We Dealing With?

  • Navigate the formation process involved in defining business scope and problems.
  • Be able to initiate Lean Six Sigma projects.

Module 3: Let’s Get to the Heavy and Find Root Cause

  • Go beyond the symptoms and understand drivers of pain and dysfunction in systems.

Module 4: Let Numbers and Key System Insight Drive the Work!

  • Know the techniques that allow a practitioner to create an effective, compelling executive story.

Module 9: You Have It All Figured Out? Moving Forward

  • Prepare to institutionalize Lean Six Sigma into your workplace culture.
  • Market yourself within your industry as a Lean Six Sigma professional and take next steps to continue your education.

Module 10: Continuing in a Lean Six Sigma Community

Once you complete the program, you will be awarded a digital certificate signed by a master black belt and by the head dean of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management.
